Schlumberger services for 2023/2024 HPHT campaign on Deepsea Yantai
Summary
The purpose of the Review was to verify SLB’s readiness for the HPHT drilling campaign and verify compliance with contractual requirements and relevant Norwegian rules and regulations.
The Review Team identified one (1) observation, five (5) improvement suggestions and eight (8)
actions. Zero (0) Non-conformances were identified. The findings listed below
Findings
-
The DNO/Wellesley requirement for the data engineers is to have IWCF Level 2 (or IADC equivalent). The crew presented were not all compliant and it is requested for SLB to review the training that has been given and present a plan to address the gap.
Included IWCF requirements for all service companies for future projects.
-
To avoid unnecessary critical path circulation SLB to define test regime and “pass criteria” used when
conditioning new mud system for Norma HPHT interval. HPHT fluid loss is the key parameter that will be monitored and test to be repeated a minimum of every 1 x bottoms up. Also, please describe how and at what time stability/sag testing is planned.Adopted procedures and no further action required
-
SLB to provide contact details for out of hours engineering support.
Done
-
SLB to provide minimum flowrate guidelines to prevent dynamic sag and method used to calculate
same (maintenance of AV > 15m /min?).Recommendations provided in planning phase
-
SLB to update generic HT tripping procedures for well
specific instructions for Carmen & Norma.Included in DOPs
-
Carmen 8 ½” DOP to be reviewed by SLB Geoservices to ensure procedure aligns with established SLB fingerprinting practices on the DSY.
DOP always revised with service companies before issued.
-
SLB to provide document list requested
in Review notification letter.List received.
-
SLB to provide competence matrix and status for mud engineers and data engineers. Specifically well control and HPHT competence requirements, and
compliance to this, for the planned crewProvided.
-
SLB to provide proposal for additional mud engineer resource during RMR interval for more frequent KCl testing. Please recommend testing interval.
No additional mud engineer required during top hole sections.
-
Pore throat size information for the
Carmen well is to be supplied to SLB by
Wellesley to find appropriate alu oxide
disc equivalent for PPA testing.Followed the SLB recommendations.
-
SLB To share Site Specific Communication Protocol that they have developed.
No further actions required.
-
SLB to provide protocols for checking gas sampling equipment to ensure accuracy and consistency during critical 8 ½” interval.
No further actions required.
-
SLB to ensure sufficient MDT modules are available in case it is necessary to split runs due to temperature. Rerun of modules is not recommended
All BU tools made available for all operations.
-
SLB communicated the job planning taken to ensure tools are not exposed to high temperatures that could result in tool failure. Some of the steps will require additional tool trip and conditioning trips to be performed. It is requested that a job time estimate is prepared, incorporating these additional precautions, to ensure sufficient time had been allowed for in the well budget.
Staging procedures included in the DOP when relevant.
