Question

Lack of justification why BO rates are lower in ST than MB, as the ST is 500 m deeper and length of 2500 m

Answer

Add Energy has done an evaluation of the potential sidetrack and concludes with same or lower BO rates than mainbore. Snip of the evaluation was included in a letter sent to NEA 29.03.2021 (attached), which can be summarized:
– Same reservoir properties, except small difference in top res depth (24m – neglectable)
– 9 5/8” csg set at same TVD as MB, alsoassuming same size DP and length of 8,5” BHA as MB.
– Sidetrack will be S-shaped and vertical through the reservoir. It will give a longer flow path from the top of reservoir to release point (530 m) and hence provide more friction compared to MB.
