What happened in Intermediate section:
Making up cmt. Stand into landing string prior to landing 9 5/8″ casing was done by use of chain tongs, this to avoid any conflict between cmt hose and IRN. This operation went smooth. After landing the 9 5/8″ casing hanger in well head the remote operated lo-torq valve was attempted opened, but did not operate. Remote operated lo-torq valve was inspected by person in riding belt. The actuator for the remote-operated lo-torq valve was found to be all loose. Actuator was disconnected and removed to avoid dropped objects. Lo-torq valve was then operated manually during the cementing operation and job performed without any issues.

What Was Planned

Installation of remote operated lo-torq valve on cmt head and M/U cmt stand.

What Was Learned

Improvement suggestion to avoid damage to remote operated lo-torq valve during make up of cmt. Stand: Archer cmt head should be picked up from catwalk and made up to joint in rotary table without elbow, remote operated lo-torq valve and 2″ cmt hose. This to avoid any damage and risk of tangling tugger wires and 2 ” cmt hose. After the cmt head has been made up to the string, the cmt head stand should be run in hole to a suitable working height for installation of elbow, remote operated lo-torq valve and 2″ cmt hose. Then the cmt stand should be POOH and racked back while securing cmt hose and control hoses to cmt stand.
