What happened in Top hole:
Drilling 36″ was a challenge – boulders from just below seabed(148 m) to 181 m. Repeated reaming required to maintain hole angle below 1 deg. Even in the softer boulder-free area below 181 m the BHA tried to build – further reaming was required to keep below 1 deg at TD. BHA had a 36″ SS (1/8″ UG) above the bit sub (5 m above the bit) and a 17 1/2″ at 20 m above the bit.

What Was Planned

Drill 36″ through boulders

What Was Learned

DDs onboard had no recommendations to change if same formation encountered in future. Patience with the BHA proved worthwhile, managed to achieve less than 1 deg angle at TD.

What Actions Are Required
