What happened in Top hole:
Made up shoe track to maximum torque. On attempting to change torque values in JAM system to optimum value, unable to reprogramme. Casing crew unable to contact shorebased support for advice and help. Changed out JAM unit. Later in run back-up unit failed. Swapped back to original unit after checking programming logic, was useable after all.
2 hrs NPT logged.

What Was Planned

Rig up and run 13 3/8″ casing making up shoe track connections to maximum torque, followed by optimum torque for remaining joints.

What Was Learned

Communication channels between Weatherford TRS on and offshore need to be improved as does QA/QC of JAM units before shipment.

What Actions Are Required

Suggestion: in future, say 2 hrs before rigging up or at the end of day shift, crew chief to call shore-based support – to ensure they will be there if required.
