What happened in Reservoir section:
Needed to build a drilling pup for coring using a balldrop sub.

What Was Planned

Coring the Reservoir section

What Was Learned

Not ideal to build a pup with XO`s to NC50. The smallest pup we have on the rig is 3m, which made the assembly 5.1m long and not possible to handle in and out from DF using the BX elevator. This led to unnecessary manual handling in red zone. The assy were too long to rack in derrick in case of a jammed core and need for racking full std with pup assy. Also difficult to operate balldrop sub from manrider with heave on the rig, since the balldrop sub is directly underneath the TD torque wrench. Could not be in btm of assy without reducing core length several meters to keep sub above rotary for safe manual operation.

For safety reasons ( manrider with compensating TD ) we suggest this balldrop sub to be remote operated. If this is not possible it should be delivered as a complete assembly with a 2m pup in btm, 0,5m balldrop sub and 1,5m pup on top. Total length of 4m. A lot safer and efficient set up. 5 7/8 handling and XT57 threads.

What Actions Are Required

HLB to follow up suggestion with remote operated balldrop sub. If not they should deliver it as a complete assy.
