Tomcat (6501/10-1) – Surface section
What happened:
Due to bad weather and rig movement, it was evaluated and decided to install CRTi to be able to sting in and stabilize top joint while M/U same with csg tong.
What was planned:
Run 20″ csg
What was learned:
The CRTi worked well after enough weight/ joints run to give a more stable stickup in rotary.
In the beginning it was beneficial to not sting in with the CRTi to let the top joint move with the box in rotary and M/U during calm periods, while tensioning up winches in moonpool to keep the movements to a minimum.
What actions are required:
Evaluate weather prior to running 20” csg and use CRTi/ other alternative if available.
Rig up winches in moonpool to help reduce movement.
