Operational LL with PGNiG
Tomcat (6501/10-1) – 9 7/8″ Pilot hole
What happened:
Very high ECD readings from MWD. Approaching FG. Suspected clay sticking to stab behind bit.
What was planned:
Drilling pilot hole with RMR 1.30 sg WBM.
What was learned:
Multiple trips out of hole confirmed suspicion. Stab completely covered in clay. Had to wash stabilizer.
Theory: Stab was essentially blocked for fluid pathways, meaning once the pumps were on and drilling the cuttings would pack off around stab giving the high ECD reading.
What actions are required:
Evaluate to reduce MW in RMR system to have more margin to the FG.
If possible, consider different type of stabilizer to reduce clay sticking.
