What happened in P&A:
Re-dressed DQ MPT tool after retrieving 9 5/8″ wear bushing. RIH and jetted through BOP at high rate using radial jetting tool on MPT tool. Ensured rig in center. Landed MPT tool on seal ass, confirmed engage by overpull.
Closed upper annular and monitored well via C&K lines. Pulled seal assy free with +-70 ton over pull (as per normal). Compensator liftet +-4 m and stayed there with -+ 20 ton overpull; indicating MPT pulled up against lower annular.
Monitored well and circulated btm’s up checking for gas – no gas.
Opened upper annular and circulated long way while letting upper annular relax for 1/2 hrs.
Attempted to POOH but had to work past lower annular and came through with 10-15 ton overpull.
When OOH; lock ring was observed missing and seal assy had minor ovality.

What Was Planned

Pull 18 3/4″ x 9 5/8″ seal assembly with lock ring installed.

What Was Learned

Issues with lower annular when pulling through from underside – no issue passing from above. Nothing to do with rig alignment, cutting build-up, nor relaxing time for annular (had never been used).

What Actions Are Required

Annulars to be opened up while rig in lay up in Feda Fjorden.
Evaluate not to run lock ring on seal assy if no well test to take place.
Omitting lock ring also makes P&A safer and less time consuming.
I.e. able to pull seal assy and csg hanger in same run – thus being able to circulate out any gas behind the csg in first run and also saving 1 ea run.
