What happened in Production section:
The cement slurry for the 9 5/8″ casing was thick/sticky and caused cement pump suction problems which led to completely wrong volume measurement of pump strokes. An unexpected Cement Unit pressure peak of 134 bar was observed after 18.5 m3 of slurry was pumped. Suspected to be the top wiper plug shearing way too early by accident. Pumping was stopped and the event discussed. Cement slurry mixing was re-started after 5 minutes.

What Was Planned

Cement 9 5/8″ casing

What Was Learned

Thought to be due to the cement type and heavier cement density than normal. The inaccurate volume control of cement slurry caused confusion during cmt job. The pressure peak was probably due to the bottom wiper plug burst in the landing collar. This event should have happened after 13 m3 slurry pumped and is not normally seen.

What Actions Are Required

Halliburton should resolve this issue for future jobs.
