What happened:

Discussion about the risk of accidentally pulling the seal assembly free (no outer lock ring installed) with the wearbushing and even the casing as the casing weight was only 13 tons due to a shallow cut depth. Made decision to pull the wearbushing free with the annular BOP closed and check for pressure build up indicating potential for gas release from a pulled seal assembly.

What was planned:

Pull the Dril-quip wearbushing

What was learned:

Dril-quip state without the outer lock ring there is always a small risk that the wearbushing can pull the seal assembly free as the wearbushing is shear pinned to the seal assembly.

What actions are required:

Consider to close the annular BOP again under following circumstances 1) if outer lock ring is not installed, 2) suspected gas below the seal assembly.
