What happened in Intermediate section:
9 5/8″ float shoe filled up with mud.

What Was Planned

Run 9 5/8″ float shoe into the mud and check its function

What Was Learned

The rig crew assumed this was a faulty float shoe valve and prepared to break out and lay out the joint. Then pick up the back up shoe. This would have taken at leas t 1 hr rig time.

What Actions Are Required

Remember to tell DSV and DE offshore that autofill float valves are in use. We did check the float shoes with flash lights on deck, but they looked closed and as conventional float valves.

What Was Done

DSV asked Halliburton cementer call town and double check that this was not a auto-fill type float. It turned out that the float shoe WAS autofill. We then left the shoe on, and converted it to normal closed float valve by pumping 1000 lpm in 3 minutes.
